Information involved

• Enquiries: when you email us, we receive your email address, name if provided, the message and attachments, any telephone number you supply, and other details you choose to send.
• Reservations: booking through Hostaway may involve your name, contact details, travel dates, guest numbers, booking requests and payment or transaction information. We receive reservation details needed to arrange your stay. Please enter card information only in the secure checkout, rather than emailing it to us.
• Technical information: hosting, font and booking services receive information needed to deliver their services, which can include your IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, dates and times, and error or security logs.

How information is used

We use enquiry and reservation information to respond to questions, arrange and administer stays, communicate arrival details, manage payments or refunds, resolve concerns, and maintain required business records. Technical information supports delivery, security, detection of suspicious or fraudulent activity, and troubleshooting of the website and booking tools. We use feedback and enquiries to identify issues and improve the information we provide.

We do not ask for personal information through the cottage photo galleries or hero-image controls.

Consent and communications

When we ask for personal information, we aim to explain what is needed and why. Information necessary to answer an enquiry or administer a reservation is used for those purposes. Where additional consent is required by law, we will seek it. Reading this policy or browsing the website is not blanket consent to unrelated uses of your information.

If you choose to receive promotional emails from us, you can withdraw that choice using the unsubscribe instructions in the message or by contacting us. Promotional messages are handled separately from communications needed for an enquiry, reservation or stay. We will obtain any consent required for promotional messages.

Service providers and external sites

Hostaway supplies the embedded availability calendar and reservation checkout. It and the payment services used at checkout process information under their applicable policies. See Hostaway’s Privacy Policy and any privacy notices displayed at checkout.

This site is hosted using Network Solutions. Hosting and delivery providers process technical requests to serve pages and images. Google Fonts supplies the site’s typefaces, so your browser connects to Google when loading those fonts. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

Links to maps and other external websites take you to services with their own privacy practices. Service providers may process information outside Canada, where it may be subject to local laws and lawful access requests.

Technical information and log files

Hosting and booking providers may keep request or diagnostic logs, including IP addresses, browser information, referring pages, requested resources, timestamps and error information. These can help operate the services, investigate failures and protect against misuse.

IP addresses and other technical records can be personal information when they relate to an identifiable person. We do not describe these records as automatically anonymous. This site does not currently include a separate visitor-tracking or demographic-analysis tool installed by us; providers’ own technical processing is described in their policies.

Cookies and browser choices

We have not added separate advertising pixels or standalone marketing analytics to these pages. Hostaway and other service providers may use cookies, browser storage, pixels or similar diagnostic technologies for their services. Their policies and any choices shown by those services apply.

You can manage cookies and site permissions in your browser. Blocking third-party services or scripts may prevent fonts, availability calendars or checkout from working. You can also contact us by email with booking questions.

Access, sharing and retention

Enquiry and reservation information is used by people and service providers involved in answering you and administering your stay, as needed for those purposes. Information may also be disclosed where required or permitted by law. This website does not provide visitor data for sale.

We aim to retain information only as long as needed for enquiries, reservations, legitimate business records, and applicable legal or accounting requirements. Retention by independent providers is governed by their policies. We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information, but no online system can guarantee complete security.

Your privacy choices

Contact us to ask about the information we hold about you, how it has been used and with whom it has been shared; request access or correction; raise a concern; or withdraw consent for a use that is based on consent. You may also request deletion of information that is no longer required. Legal, contractual and recordkeeping requirements may limit what can be deleted or stopped. Withdrawing information needed to arrange a stay may affect our ability to provide it.

We may ask for reasonable information to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. For access requests under applicable Canadian federal private-sector privacy law, the usual response period is 30 days, subject to permitted extensions and required notices. For information held independently by a service provider, you may also need to contact that provider. You can learn about privacy rights or raise an unresolved concern with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Additional privacy rights

Depending on the laws that apply to your circumstances and our processing, you may have additional rights to request deletion, restrict or object to certain processing, receive information in a portable format, or exercise applicable opt-out rights. These rights are subject to the scope, conditions and exceptions of the relevant law.

Children’s information

This website is intended for people researching or arranging a stay and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly invite children under 13 to submit personal information directly through the website.

If you believe a child has sent us personal information without the appropriate parent or guardian’s involvement, please contact info@hightidehomes.com. We will review the situation and remove information that should not have been collected, subject to applicable legal requirements. Where an adult provides information about children in a booking party, only information reasonably needed to administer the stay should be provided.
